Lyrics to Circle Around This Town by Maren Morris

I really like this song, especially the lines in the refrain, "I drove circles around this town, Tryin' to write circles around this town, Tryna say somethin' with meanin', Somethin' worth singin' about."  That's totally what I do when I'm searching for the next thing to write.  It touches me that another writer does the same.  (The song/video is in the post below this.)

Lyrics

I swear I don't know how I trustedA Montero with the AC bustedA couple bad demos on a burned CDWould take me all the way to TennesseeI showed up to the new apartmentFirst month's, last month's, two depositsHadn't heard the sound of a door slam yetThank God I was an optimist
I drove circles around this townTryin' to write circles around this townTryna say somethin' with meanin'Somethin' worth singin' aboutI've been kind and I've been ruthlessYeah, I got here, but the truth isThought when I hit it, it'd all look differentBut I still got the pedal downDrivin' circles around this town
So many times, I thought about leavin'Got my ass kicked tryin' to compete withEverybody else's ones that got awayI'm around long enough to catch a breakA couple hundred songs and the ones that finally workedWas the one about a car and the one about a churchThat I wrote
Drivin' circles around this townTryin' to write circles around this townTryna say somethin' with meanin'Somethin' worth singin' aboutI've been kind and I've been ruthlessYeah, I got here, but the truth isThought when I hit it, it'd all look differentBut I still got the pedal downDrivin' circles around this townDrivin' circles around this town

How did this song inspire her to write?

You might ask yourself that question when you check out that category on this site.  Some songs really do inspire stories or story seedlings...
